DESCRIPTION:

The wonderful Etsch cycle path leads along the Etsch (Adige) from the Tyrolean Alps to Mediterranean Verona. The bike tour begins in the Austrian / Italian border town of Nauders and continues downhill after the Reschen Pass. Past the idyllic Reschensee, lined with orchards and vineyards, the well-developed Etsch Valley Cycle Path offers sensational views of a breathtaking landscape.

Soon the bike tour will also offer cultural sights, from the well-known spa town of Merano to Bolzano and Trento. At the end of the bike tour, Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet and the Arena, world-famous for its unique open-air operas, await you.

Nauders - Schlanders, approx. 57 km

You cycle from Nauders to the top of the pass in Reschen with a slight incline and cross the border into Italian South Tyrol. Shortly afterwards you reach the picturesque Reschensee with the famous church tower in the water and the Marienberg monastery. From there, the Adige Cycle Path continues gently sloping to the beautiful holiday resort of Schlanders.

Schlanders, Meran, Bolzano, approx. 50 km

In the valley of the Etsch you cycle with a wonderful panorama of the Ortler group, mostly directly on the river, constantly downhill through the apple orchards of the Vinschgau. Soon you will reach the wonderful spa town of Meran with the well-known Trauttmansdroff Castle with its terraced gardens. We continue to Bozen, the provincial capital of South Tyrol, which has numerous sights, from the Ötzi Museum to the well-known Grieser church with the Pacher altar.

Bolzano - Trento, approx. 60 km

Today you continue on the Etsch Cycle Path past the rocky slopes of the famous Salurner Klause, which is also the German-Italian language border. In the charming town of San Michele all'Adige, we recommend visiting the Augustinian monastery and tasting the regional wines. The stage destination, the old council town of Trento (Trient), has some remarkable highlights such as palazzi and castles.

Trento - Lake Garda / Arco, approx. 53 km

Always staying on the Adige Cycle Path, you cycle through picturesque vineyards to Rovereto, whose enchanting center with its monuments is worth a visit. Via the lonely town of Mori you finally reach the northern shore of the beautiful Lake Garda and the nearby Arco with its Mediterranean climate in Torbole.

Lake Garda / Arco - Cavaion Veronese, approx. 63 km

Short transfer to San Giovanni (3 km), from where you continue the bike tour slightly downhill to San Roco and cycle along the Etsch cycle path to Belluno-Veronese. After a short climb you reach Albaré and continue to the gourmet community of Cavaion Veronese, just a stone's throw from Lake Garda.

Cavaion Veronese - Verona, approx. 44 km

In the finale you will cycle today to the Canale Camuzzoni and along this irrigation system for the fortress Verona and Mantua with very beautiful views over the Adige to the first cyclist observation tower. Via Bussolengo you finally reach the center of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Verona. In addition to the world-famous amphitheater, where the opera festival takes place in summer, the romantic old town of Verona awaits with numerous sights.
