The romantic one Roan host in St. Lorenzen at the foot of the Hochschwab is a perfect starting point for Bike star tours in Upper Styria. Pleasure cyclists have the choice: either cycle over blooming high alpine pastures with regional hut cuisine from alpine cheese to root bacon. Or along idyllic river landscapes on the family-friendly Mur or Mürztal cycle paths R2 and R5 with cultural highlights such as Oberkapfenberg Castle.

The traditionally run family business Roanwirt impresses with 20 unique rooms and its friendly, modern atmosphere, caused by the old, high-quality wood of the furnishings, which is reminiscent of old farm romance. The evening can be enjoyed with regional cuisine or relaxed in the wellness area. High-quality bicycles can be hired from the in-house e-bike box.

Tip: Sporty riders can cycle further downstream on the Mur Cycle Path to the Styrian capital of Graz and return by train.

The Roanwirt is located in the middle of the beautiful mountain landscape, in the heart of the Mürztal and at the foot of the Hochschwab. An easy bike tour on the Mürztalradweg (R5) to Bruck an der Mur is recommended as a start. At the destination, in the historic old town, many architectural jewels invite you to take a cultural and culinary stroll: the Iron Fountain, the medieval bath house and the Brucker Schlossberg. There and back: approx. 27 km

On the Mürztalradweg to Neuberg an der Mürz, approx. 58km

For today's excursion on the beautiful Mürztalradweg (R5), we recommend taking the train to Mürzzuschlag to save time and energy. We continue by bike to Neuberg an der Mürz to the Münster and the Kaiserhof glass factory and downstream on the R5 back to the Roanwirt. Along the cycle path, beautiful places in the middle of the river landscape invite you to rest. Especially in the summer months, we recommend a refreshing break at the "Urani" natural bathing pond in Neuberg, at the Krieglach leisure pond or on the banks of the Mürz to cool off your feet. The many inns near the cycle path also provide the best culinary options. There and back: approx. 58 km (only bike ride)

Promising mountain bike tour on the Brucker Hochanger, approx. 45 km

Starting from the hotel you cycle the Mürztalradweg (R5) to Bruck an der Mur in the nature conservation center Weitental. There you can - preferably with e-bikes - cycle through the Almgasthaus Schweizeben and the 1.308m high Brucker Hochanger. From the Hochanger you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Hochschwab and the Graz mountains. Right at the summit you can fortify yourself with culinary delights in the Hochanger refuge. Then it goes back down the valley and back to St. Lorenzen. On the way home, we recommend an enjoyable stop in Bruck an der Mur, for example in the traditional Riegler inn or in the Weinerei im Baderhaus. There and back: approx. 45 km, 815 meters in altitude

On the Mur Cycle Path to Leoben, approx. 45 km

Alternatively, pleasure cyclists can cycle along the Murradweg (R2) from Bruck an der Mur to the neighboring region to Leoben, where the world-famous Gösser beer is brewed. Guided tours and tastings are offered in the Gösseum, the brewery museum. The main square, the "living room of the city" is the largest sidewalk café in Austria. A special place to eat, drink, rest and enjoy, but also to stroll. From Leoben you take the train back to Bruck an der Mur and from there you cycle to the hotel.
