NEW: Sterntour Murradweg
Enjoy cycling between the Mur and Eisenstrasse cycle paths
The traditional and cozy Gasthof Eberhard offers romantic rooms and is located in the old village center of the St. Michael cycling hub in Upper Styria. The Murradweg R2, one of the most beautiful river cycle paths in Austria, passes very close by. In less than an hour you can reach the beautiful old town of Leoben, the second largest city in Styria. A decelerated pleasure tour leads along the R 15 Rastland cycle path from St. Michael to Mautern, where you can visit an impressive animal park after a chairlift ride up the Wilder Berg. A more demanding cycle tour leads, for example, in the footsteps of Archduke Johann via Trofaiach on the R38 iron road cycle path to Vordernberg. Back at Gasthof Eberhard you can relax in the idyllic guest garden with a glass of wine under a cherry tree and strengthen yourself in the Slow Food establishment with traditional dishes and drinks from local farms.

Individual arrival and check-in at Gasthof Eberhard. To get your stay off to a leisurely start, we recommend a bike trip to the nearby town of Leoben. (approx. 24 km there and back) The Murradweg R2, one of the most beautiful river bike paths in Austria, runs very close to Gasthof Eberhard. Leoben's living room invites you to take a leisurely break and during a digitally guided walk through the old town you can learn interesting things about the history of the mining town.
In the footsteps of Archduke Johann - approx. 55 km, challenging
Today we take the main road and side roads with little traffic, past Lake Trabochersee to Trofaiach. After admiring the impressive mountain panorama of the Reiting massif, follow the R38 iron road cycle path until you arrive in Vordernberg after about 2,5 hours. It is worth visiting Radwerk IV, the only surviving and fully equipped charcoal blast furnace. After a break at the Gasthof Schwarzer Adler, it goes downhill along the Eisenstrassen cycle path R38 to Leoben, where you cycle back to St. Michael on the Murradweg R2.
Pleasure tour, approx. 45 km (there and back), easy
Strengthened by Ilse's delicious breakfast, you start the decelerated pleasure tour along the R 15 Rastland cycle path to Mautern. In Mautern you should definitely leave your bike behind and dare to take the chairlift up the Wilder Berg. Lynxes, wild cats, wolves and bears await visitors in the zoo. The summer toboggan run takes you back down into the valley and if you still feel like it, you can cycle to Wald am Schoberpass, where you should take a dip in the cool waters of the leisure lake.
Before heading home, we recommend a quick lap around Lake Trabocher. After a pedal boat ride, you can treat yourself to a delicious fish with a view of the lake from the terrace of Michi's Seeschenke, and then cycle relaxed and with beautiful memories of the ERZBERG LEOBEN adventure region in your luggage towards everyday life.
